  3. Josh Black is an artist that makes some really f***in cool art.
Mike Edrington and I recently made this photo of a wooden igloo Josh built.

  4. A few of my photos are featured in this exhibition at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, opening on Friday. It will be up for a few months, so if you’re in the area check it out. Sounds like there will be a lot of really great work in it.

  5. Got a New Job!

Just got officially offered a full-time job with benefits as a photo editor. The job search is finally over, at least for a while. Now its time to crank out some projects I’ve been meaning to finish before I start.

Starting off right now by going out to finish off a couple rolls of film.

I feel the exact same way about your work. It baffles me that photography isn’t your main focus, because every time I come past one of your photos I have to just sit and stare in amazement for a while. Thank you very much for the kind words and keep up the good work!

I’m selling some prints from a few of my most recent projects. These images are all from The Places We Were (and the Things We Used), which you can view in full on my website or on my Flickr. All the ones you see here are 18”x22.5” images on 22”x28” sheets. All images were made using a 4x5 large format view camera with Kodak Portra 160NC or 400NC color film, which I self-developed. I then scanned the film and made pigmented inkjet prints on Epson premium luster photo paper. The detail and color provided by the large format film in these big prints is something you have to see in person to fully understand.

I have quite a few left over prints from my last couple of semesters in school and I am trying to get rid of some. Most of these prints were displayed in my exhibition titled Beside Our Shoulders. The first photo in this set, Texaco, is just the image because the print is still in frame and stored away, so I didn’t photograph it. All of the prints have been very well taken care of and stored in a sealed portfolio after exhibition. All of the prints you see here are the only ones I have made of that image, so if there is one you really like make sure you hurry before someone else gets it, because I won’t be making any this large anytime soon. All prints are signed and dated.

I am asking $150 with free shipping, or $185 in a 22”x28” black frame included…….but if you go to my brand new Facebook Page and like it, I will gladly give you 20% off.

Please email me or message me if you are interested. For all of you in or around the two places I like to call home (Iowa City and Indianola), I would be happy to personally deliver them to you over the holiday season.

  14. I am generally opposed to posting photos on this blog that I take from my phone, but I found this scene today while I was on a bike ride and I’m liking it so much I can’t resist.

  15. I recently made some photographs for Daniel Feinberg’s Master of Fine Arts project, entitled Deployment: The Plight of Ought.
